On Returning

It’s been difficult to catch ones breath between TMtsTMIII: Stonehenge, BSMXIII, the terror, OPETH, and the sickness (which now seems to be waning)

Hopefully in days ahead there will be more accounts of various GTs past, present, and future.

Looking ahead, some GTs to look forward to:

“The OFFICIAL Black Sabbath “13” listening party on The Old Kings Highway”

“July 4th”

“July 22nd”

… and the newly formed:

The Mission to see The Mission IV: NY3

here’s some pictures of TMtsTMIII: Stonehenge:

One response to “On Returning

  1. Found this reflection from a member of Operation Ivy about what the band was trying to be about. May14th seemed a kindred place to repeat it.

“Music is an indirect force for change, because it provides an anchor against human tragedy. In this sense, it works towards a reconciled world. It can also be the direct experience of change. At certain points during some shows, the reconciled world is already here, at least in that second, at that place. Operation Ivy was very lucky to have experienced this. Those seconds reveal that the momentum that drives a subculture is more important than any particular band. The momentum is made of all the people who stay interested, and keep their sense of urgency and hope.”

In a similar vein, I was moved to tears by the Ramones last Friday. As I listened to the sweet purity of Joey’s voice singing “Do You Wanna Dance”, I was literally choking up, and then erupted in laughter when I realized an excerpt from one of the monk’s sermons on Faith captured the essence of the Ramones better than anything I think ever could.

“Faith gives us the power to see life very clearly, to admit that sometimes it seems all wrong and still to know that, somehow, it is all right.”
