***** IF LOOKING FOR THE FILMS, SCROLL PAST THIS POST*****

People are saying that there is now a new benchmark in eSaturday films, and I am not one to dispute a fact.  This year we saw a quality of artisanship that hitherto remained unparalleled.  Extensions Saturday 2016 is one for the annals of “All Time”.  It’ll take some time to unravel all the meanings and threads, as well as impressions and reviews, but here is a passing overview.  I recommend everyone rewatch the films in reverse order as to how they were presented as well, an invigorating ride I guarantee you!

“The Descension” by DJ M and the F Jam, a perfect way to conclude the event in what seems to be the sec0nd film is a series of sorts.

“Memories and Evolution” by Mr Y was one of the top films for the people’s choice.  We almost didn’t get a film from the winner of Haverhast V and last years Honorable Mention.  But his last minute entree was chock full of insight, nostalgia, and even I daresay a cautionary tale.  His use of video tape was a fine touch.

“Pressure/Pride” was another crowd pleaser by Haverhast IV winner Beachmont Frank.  Dottie, Big Frank, Holly, and even the “extension cord” were listed as contenders for Honorable Mention. A good time to watch with a devastating finale.

“Cat Therapy” by Honorable Mention winner of two years ago, David Smart, was his second film of the night. And like his first and Mr Y’s film, featured a chilling narration.  Exquisitely filmed and scored, I personally thought the scene featuring the protagonist roaming the street in bathrobe saying “Kitty, kitty” was one of the most horrific things we’ve every screened: A definite consideration for Honorable Mention.

“The Lost Bishop Film” by Persephone Haverhast. She took Haverhast III with the original game changing film.  The highly anticipated sequel had been thwarted by extreme life forces and essentially shelved and considered “lost”.  But, thankfully, a set of fresh eyes and time allowed her to return to the deck and harvest a lot of fantastic material.  Her father, John, won the first Honorable Mention, and is now a serious contender yet again.

“a Medley Macabre” by F2 the J was originally slated for last year, but at least we finally got to see it this year.  A delightful trilogy of terror. I’ll never recover from the final shock of the third vignette!  So good to see F2 back add it with the excellent addition of J, another Honorable Mention contender.

“Welcome to Your Nightmare” by Visitor Blim.  Visitor Blim always brings the crowd pleasing material that brings people back for more.  This elegant study of the dream scape of horror was beautifully treated and designed. I’m sure those images will haunt us forever.

“Self Help Videos” by David Smart.  Smart has elevated the production game.  His score, filming, editing, voice over, etc were on a new level.  Compelling and unnerving, even uncomfortable, this black “study of the self” possessed the taste of authentic horror, so rarely achieved.

“The Triskelion of Hastinine” by Vlindinhauer Haverhast. Another popular film of the night was perhaps the most linear story of the night and certainly ever told by the creator. Loosely based of “The Necklace” by Guy de Maupassant, This film see’s the protagonist resort to horrible things to return a borrowed item.  Beachmont Frank as Frankie Ribbons, Visitor Blim as Steven Ghostly, and Tech Support as Bryant Evans are ALL contenders for the Honorable Mention.

“E 14: Illsequitis”, finally, the most dreaded of the Extensions series has seen the light of day.  It proved to be far more entertaining than originally thought.  G writes “A real Cliffhanger”.

Lot’s to ponder,  feel free to send more reflections in …

So, election day looked like this:

Post birthday good times, and an impromptu trip to The Log of Sanity.  Behind us one spies a dried out Lake Sane:img_5295

My shadow is about where the log was pre-deterioration.  Visitor Blim is about where the Pelikan II is buried:
