In the Wake

~~~
Yesterday we  had a couple rounds of The Circle Game dedicated in the memory of Yukio.  Nothing overt, but a lot of Feeling.
Tracks 1 – 8 were The Host and Winthrop Frank in a Standard Olympic Circle.  Songs 9 – 10 were on call mingling with track 10 played twice for Visitor Blim’s transition into the Circle. Tracks 11 – 22 were a Standard 3 person Full Olympic.
… and yes, The Host did play Carouselambra as a Danse Round.
A Curry with fowl filet, mushrooms, and eggplant was served to the music of Live Black Sabbath via youtube.
Thank you all for the kind vibrations.
On this Day …
Winter Concludes at 1257hrs.
Vernal Equinox
Spring Begins.
Spring is the weirdest of the Seasons.
It’s also the anniversary of the current Incarnation of Brother Jerome.
I wish I had more time to write.
Books could be written, but it’s Thursday and I have to catch the 0530hr bus.
After a three year hiatus of “The Quarterly Chess Society”, last night saw the advent of the new “Saturday Night Chess Society”.
It was fn excellent.
We need to thank George for getting the ball rolling again.  Hopefully it sha’n’t be another 3 years til we convene again.  Perhaps July …
Doors were at 1900hrs.  The participants were:
The Host
MPM
Bob Nicoll
Monsieur Mechanic (Bob Berry)
George Kneeland
Michael F Buckley
As ever, better documentation should have happened, but, we have these photographs as proof of the Good Times:
The original “Friday Night Chess Society” began in 1996 and met one Friday a month until July 26th 2002.
The “Monday Night Chess Society” was formed on April 28th 2003 and ceased to exist after June 16th 2003.
Both Society’s convened at Doug’s.  There was one expedition to Bob Nicoll’s place in Arlington sometime in the late 20th Century.
“The Quarterly Chess Society” was formed on September 7th 2008 and met at The New Great Hall by the Sea. The final meet was on March 6th 2011.
So begins the next chapter, a new society, “The Saturday Night Chess Society”.
Join Us.
Soon Tomorrow/Mardi Gras
As many of you know by now, my birthday is in November.  This year OPETH have elected to stage a concert in Amsterdam on the same day.  This means there is now an Official Event in the works.
In other news, Winthrop Frank and I celebrated “fat tuesday” by going to Fuddruckers to take on the 3lb burger challenge.  One has an hour to eat this “sandwich” and fries.  If accomplished one gets a tee shirt and respect.
We left with neither.  But kept our dignity.
Here’s to Lent 2014!
Visitor Blim
~~~

Yesterday we had a Circle Game in honour of the Eve of Visitor Blims birth.  That being today.

A theme developed: The Eve of Visitor Blim: The Story of Mikroglycerin

Here is the playlist:

Song 20 is when we had the Lamb feast.  Songs 25-35 were without Visitor Blim.

Here is a commemorative short from a few years ago:

If up for more “madness”, here is a rare work done in the early days of the iMac desktop, the Circle Game resurrection, and restored “good times”:

More Moments of Then Yesterday

~~~
This one is from May 1985.  Pictured with Janice is Rich Brown.  In the backdrop one can admire the “David Gilmour” shrine, commemorating the 1 year anniversary of the concert we witnessed at the Orpheum:
One often asks: “How did the Host come to be such an elegant and capable drinker of spirits?” Here we see an early lesson with Pop:
Here we see a smaller version of The Host with Grandma on the morning of his favourite childhood Christmas:
Here we see The Host with The Cats of his childhood, Freddie and Effie:
Here we see The King pictured with “Bill”.  “Bill” was someone befriended by The Host in his young quest for bootleg recordings of rock music.  “Bill” had a flyer up at Mystery Train records in Harvard Square.  He and the Host met in the early spring of 1985 and would have some extreme good times trolling record stores together, drinking headwrecker brand beer and smoking grass.  “Bill” had this studio apartment on Gloucester Street.  Herr O had the pleasure of visiting this strange moment in time.  In the picture is sometime in the Summer of 1985 where we had “Bill” over for a Flat-party.
I lost touch with “Bill” by the Autumn.  I do remember getting a call from him at The Donut Store sometime in the late WInter of 1990.  He said something about “getting it together” and reconnecting with “good people’.
I never heard from him again
(ironically, “If you leave” by OMD is on the Pandora …)
God Bless Them All, and May All Attain!
