I’m sure the May 14th audience is wondering “Whats going on?”

Well, as of today, Now Today tis a mere 12 weeks until Black Sabbath Monday XIII

(85 days as of this writing)

My holidays go until the end of biz on the 13th.

Busy times ahead.

When we return to “Ordinary Time” we’ll see where the chips stack and how many … etc

I think the previous seven years paved the way for the glory that was last night.

Of course, we needed to develop through those years to begin to approach the idea of getting a programme into focus.

By far the best part of “The Hobbit” pt 1 was the scene including Sir Christopher Lee as Saruman:

A delightful film, it was good to see The Master, still at it.

In other news, Herr O paid a surprise visit to TNGHbtS last night. We had a few laughs and managed some music as well. A new bit he played on the mellotron app, and then he was on cymbal for a go at Nightmare I and The Call.

Between various obligations, illnesses, and the “weather” this is proving to be a trying, if not un-EventFULL NTW.

We may see “The Hobbit” today.

Perhaps if there’s a rally there could be a rehearsal tonight.

It remains unclear whether or not this will be a week or fortnight of Good Times.  Everything remains unclear, with the holidays and all that.  Moreover, few seem able to commit to a programme or even perceive what the possiblilties are.  Again, the holidayz and We, here at The New Great Hall by the Sea overstand.

But, the kick off event, the Sabitathica Welcome Party was a smashing event.  He, Elizabeth, me (the Host) and the Wife were pleasantly surprised by the addition of Mr Y.

After a fantastic Persian dish we watched the epic monster “Now Today Fortnight 2011 parts I and II”.  Although some questioned the editing, the time, and the choices, even with reminders of the staggering 75 hours of raw footage, it seemed to pass in the blink of an eye.  Exceedingly excellent Good Times, not only on film, but the act of watching in fellowship.  

… and Then, the inaugural trial of “The New Winter Nightmare Ensemble”.  Playing the music of “The Midsummer Nightmare Ensemble” and augmenting the programme with “side three”: “Too Much Time on My Hands” and the dreaded “Azneovlantusis”.

To wind the Event down (well past the Midnight hour) we were blessed with a listening of Sabitathica’s new album “No One Knows Her”.

Truly a fantastic time!

Christmas Eve I had my annual breakfast with Brother Jerome at The Pour House. A lively cognac fueled walk followed as we promenaded the Commonwealth Avenue Mall and made our way to a music store outside Fenway to pick up a new ride Cymbal for PH.

Later, one of the highlights of the year, the Good Times at The Abington Ale House featuring a magnificent round of “The Ministers Cat”.

On Sunday the 23rd we will host the now-annual “Sabitathica Welcome Dinner Party”.

This will mark the OFFICIAL kick off of Now Today Fortnight 2012.

For those interested, Marisa will be in her final performance of “The Urban Nutcracker” that day at 1500hrs.

The Event here, at TNGHbtS, will begin at 1900hrs.

The Event here will feature the World Premiere of “Now Today Fortnight 2011 parts I and II”.

After the film and meal, we will then proceed our work with and as “The New Winter Nightmare Ensemble”.

… and so it begins.  All the good times.  Last year “Now Today Week” officially became “Now Today Fortnight”.  The film of that is still in the works.  Not many of you saw “Now Today Week 2010” or even “Now Today Week 2009” for that matter.  I’ll just say: “You’re missing out”.  Not to mention all the various Good Times involved in their creation, “live” as it were.  Last years concept of a set-list sparked a momentum that hath carried us unto this year and with it the creation of not only a new catalogue of material but also a more refined “way of doing things”.

I do hope you’ll find your way in this Season.

We are a little late in announcing this year’s recipient for “The Haverhast”.

Before doing so we must be clear: this has been the most demanding year yet.

Never before has the pool of contenders been this rich, well-made, and at times: terror-fying.

“Ablutions” by Visitor Blim was less horror and more docu-art. Some poignant moments and some astounding revelations were had. File under “Good Times”.

“The Whole World Was Green” the second offering from Visitor Blim had great buzz. The docu-horror-art style was uncomfortable. I wish there were more perspectives provided. Perhaps this is the start of a larger, more horror-ble project.

“Free Day” from Mr Y was also a contender. It’s been years since Mr Y presented a new work and the committee was shaking in its boots. And clearly, Mr Y has been using his “free time” wisely. The addition of the new talent was mind blowing. Perhaps other members of the Society may try to pool their resources and create some sort of “children only” horror art. I can think of nothing more terror-fying.

“La mort du franc carre” by F2 was a definite step in the right direction. The original score was meticulous, and the meat-a-mation was mind blowing. I think if Vlindinhauer Haverhast did an edit on the film it would’ve been a contender.

“Too Much Time On My Hands” a new song from Sabitathica, has been newly added to my “Now Today” playlist. This catchy, dark, and beautiful number has a way of insinuating itself into your psyche. I can’t get enough of music like this. But I’m biased.

“After the Moment” was a definite crowd pleaser and offered the most frightening moments of the evening. The atmosphere and thrills had “Haverhast” written all over it.

“Early Horror Art – Volume the First” as restored by Vlindinhauer Haverhast was another clear crowd favourite. We can all look forward to future volumes of this on Extensions Saturday Soon Tomorrow.

but, without a doubt, The Haverhast goes to:

“Code Name – Bishop” by Persephone Haverhast

This film was a first on so many levels, from script writing, to location shooting, scoring, and non-sequencial filming. Did you know that the final prison scene was the first scene filmed (Back on Black Sabbath Monday Sunday 2012)? From the “Frankie Blade” sequence, to the stellar opening credits, and then the mind blowing ending …. nothing else stood a chance.
