Circle Pool

~~~
Yesterday we celebrated the first Pool Circle of the season. Participants added 70 minutes of material each, then, set to shuffle, we enjoyed a “pace in the pool”. BMF provided the venue and housemade catering. Here is what the day looked like:
Here is the list of tracks. Not in the order played – only the Gods of Random Shuffling will ever know.
Pretty nice, right?
Meanwhile, the ever fragile roses of The Garden at Fire Plaza begin another season:
I’ll be away until the 27th.
The Power of 4
~~~

Wow.

The power of a four person circle is un-matched.

New participant Bob returned for his first “Official” Circle.  We were joined by Beachmont Frank and Visitor Blim.  However, before the music started, we had a remarkable culinary experience with the debut of the Emerald Salad Mold (a recipe from a book published in 1958):

Then we settled in to two full circles.

The Official triptych:

Of course, we were under the watchful gaze of Captain Cat:

Pretty nice, right?

Note, the final track, “Echoes” was live from Boston in 1975 and played whilst the catering of lamb coconut curry was consumed.

It’ll be a few weeks before the next Monday Circle.  However, do consider seeing Franks rock act next Monday at O’Briens in Allston.

Also, be at the ready for a few potential Sunday evening Circles this Summer.

Spring

Visitor Blim and I managed a Monday Circle earlier this week.  Some visual highlights:

The catering was during song 26 and 27,  being low on time we concluded with two short danse pieces.

Nothing Like a Saturday Night …

~~~
Wow.
A rare Saturday night circle.  We were blessed with a fantastic, nay, exceptional team of participants who continually kept raising the bar and redefining what harmonic excellence can be.
Certainly the readers see plenty of Beachmont Frank and Visitor Blim at the Circle, and what they contribute, but, what a honour, to be joined by legendary listener Mr Y himself!
From what I heard, he has truly kept “his head in the game”.
Mr Y can trace his roots to the early days of the Circle at Mediterranean Woods, and even the Flat.  Moreover, his keen mind hath brought forth such innovations as “a la carte” circle option, and “the lights”.
Enough of that.  Here are a few images of what it looked like:
The Haverhast
~~~

Recipients and enthusiasts alike would know that a record of the winners is kept within the coveted trophy.

The first seven years were on a scroll. Having “completed an octave” of sorts, it’s clear to advance the record keeping.

A small blank tome was bestowed unto me some time ago by an older mentor whose son had joined the Masons. This tome was created by the Masons for “special purposes”, and indeed those “special purposes” hath arrived.

(Son gave to father, father gave it to me: the way is clear.)

Behold the new “Book of Haverhast”:

I did the initial scribing at “Renegades” at Orient Heights, then feasted, in order to solemnize the event:

The Intensity of May

Monday we had a revelatory Circle here at The New Great Hall by the Sea.  It looked something like this:

Frank took possession of some monster replica’s, then proceeded to showcase their likenesses on his person:

Simon Crinck made a dreaded appearance:

Everything

~~~
So much continues to happen.
Layer upon layer of complexity.
But, the Circle continues …
Marisa is home this week, and a variety of undertakings were planned for today.  As I am returning from the laundromat I find out that a “first time guest” is moments away.  Apparently there was a “mix up” in the wires and potential-first-time-circle-game-subscriber was arriving “a week early”.
As ever, being one to make lemonade out of lemons, sizing up the situation I decided to send this person away as curtly as possible.
…. or did I?
The Divining Hand guided Bob to The New Great Hall by the Sea with intent and purpose.  Perhaps it best to initiate Bob with a two person game.
A harmonic triumph was to follow.
Here is the standard triptych:
Transitional Times
~~~

For unknown reasons, Winters’ end is often met with “some sort of calamity”.  Not every year, but enough for me to take note.  But, let’s not get caught up in bummers.  It’s all some sort of opportunity to distinguish oneself.

Two Circles to report.  Yesterday’s “First Circle of Spring” and last weeks “Last Circle of Winter”.
