Black Sabbath, the Circle, and Beyond

~~~
So, as some of you know,  a few weeks ago I returned to NY3 to see Black Sabbath on the first leg of their Final Tour: The End.  There is talk of seeing the second leg at Great Woods in the Summer, but let’s take everyday as a gift.  For those interested here is the OFFICIAL Now Today Documentary of the event.  We get to see the Host travel via Amtrak to NYC, meet Tech Support, have GTs, visit the notorious “Trump Tower”, and then see Black Sabbath at Madison Square Garden.
Just under an hour, enjoy the journey:
There have been a few good Circles of late. Let’s hope we have one on Easter Monday, always a good time for the Good Times.
Speaking of Circles, at the last one, attending by BMF and I, we found yet another “New Revelation” of possibility.  The two of us followed the aspects of the four person game.  It was astonishing.  So, instead of
seated/seated
mingle/danse
seated/seated
danse/mingle
we did:
seated/seated/seated/seated
mingle/danse/mingle/danse
seated/seated/seated/seated
danse/mingle/danse/mingle
Very advanced playing.
The first 16 tracks represent the advanced play 2 person as described above.  The second 16 were “a la carte”
Pretty nice, right?
There was one “Circle Candle”, can anyone guess which track?  The winner receives “high esteem”.
See you on Easter Monday!
Visitor Blim and The Circle
~~~

On the day of the Full Storm Moon we met at TNGHbtS for a thrilling round of The Circle Game.  It also served as Visitor Blim’s (MPM) birthday kickoff party.  For those interested, we’ll be conducting a “part two” this upcoming Saturday night.  The wife will make cake and pizza will be catered.

Anyway, I made an Parsi Goat Eggplant and Green Lentil Curry which looked like this:

To wash it down, we continued our “Manhattan” study.  The House Manhattan, aka: The Now Today Manhattan, features 3 bitters as opposed to the usual 1.  It being a special event we used some ice made from water I captured in Iceland last September:

This led to the Good Times:

Visitor Blim left, and the Moon rose:

The Wife returned home, and waiting in our foyer were these delights from Belgium:

This morning I made breakfast with leftover goat eggplant lentil apricot curry and added a fresh local duck egg:

Hopefully we’ll see some of you people this Saturday February 27th 2016!

The Position

The Position

I’ve been digging the 70 or so tracks of The Missionary Position that have been preserved in the permanent collection lately.
The good out weighs the bad …
… by a lot.
As young men at various crossroads, it’s nonsensical to point fingers at any villain.
When I hear the playing, I hear joy.
Not one for nostalgia, but I miss playing regularly with those guys.
During the week I’d play with Dave and Dennis, then O would join for weekend rehearsal.
When we hear the post-Dave recordings the band is on fire. Tight and near great.
But something was lost.
First the Fender Rhodes, then the feedback, then the weird lyrics, then the keyboards, finally: his persona.
Dave and I started the band during the wretched autumn of ’87. I didn’t really know who this guy was, but he said he had a deal in the works and needed a band …
Not sure if the deal was just in his head, but it lead to 2.5 years of creative good times.
The band was tight enough to have played Madison Square. But our first gig was in Chris Chrobak’s back yard summer 1988. It would be fitting that our final concert would be there, July 1990.
A few years ago I had a brief conversation with Dave about a possible 20 year reunion gig. It was good to hear his voice and experience a taste of the old days …
… but he wasn’t interested. He did say he would cheer us on …
Last summer I had a few emails with Dennis. He seemed enthusiastic about a get together (Especially after hearing a few tracks). But he stopped writing back after about a week. So …
The MP remains on hold.

I think we’re all still having a good time …

~~~
One of the busiest holiday seasons to date.  That, a new automobile, and a new desk top have left little time for returning to Our favourite date: May 14th.
Although we’ve been in possession of the new desktop for almost a month, scheduling with Tech Support has been extremely difficult. We are still not fully functional. But, at least what is functioning is optimal.  The previous desktop was melting after 7 good years of use and abuse.
Here is what a session with Tech Support looks like:
Pretty cool, right?
Here’s the odometer on the new Kia Soul:
Here’s a great scene from the Pure Hair Salon holiday party:
We hope everyone continues having a fantastic Winter.  Perhaps an Event should be organized ….
The Good Times
~~~

It’s on …

Now Today Week 2015.

What an evolution.

The good times and fellowship experienced last night at the annual  “Sabitathica Welcome Dinner Party” were unparalleled.

Due to “the holidays” (and Captain Cat) I was a little behind schedule. Guitars not in place, not tuned, etc. We still managed some good times.

1800hrs: doors. Cloud, Sabitathica, Mr Y, and BMF joined the wife and I for bubbly and appetizers.

1900hrs: World Premiere of “Now Today Week 2014 Part the First”.

2000hrs: Dinner. “Khoresht-e Bademjan” – a Persian Eggplant stew with chicken. This evoked the first talk of  … “The Flavourhast”

2100hrs “Now a Today Week 2014 Part the Second” followed by dessert

After dessert we began the rehearsals for NTW2015.

…, so many good times. And once we get tuned … Beware …
