Late Summer Good Times

~~~
Late Summer is always a rich time of year. This being no exception.  As mentioned Brett returned for a 22 hour visit earlier this week.  It was as if no time had passed.  Moreover, especially among the adherents of The Circle Game, he Frank and I launched into a massive Circle Game on Monday, and it was seamless.
Q: What’s so hard about three guys playing songs for 7 hours.
A1: Have you ever done that, and how recently?
A2: It’s not just hanging out, this is The Circle Game, there are aspects of the Circle that are honoured and celebrated. It’s work.
When Brett arrived, The Wife and I were just arrived from a daytrip to ProvinceTown.  Good Times indeed:
Brett arrived as I began what would be the lunch for the next day, a Persian Lamb Stew.  His first task was getting 22 pieces of garlic ready …
After toiling in the Kitchen for about two hours we took a stroll.
Triptych the First:
Morning came, I awoke, made coffee, then we Sat.  After the morning Sitting I made a fantastic vegetarian egg thing (not pictured).  Then Winthrop Frank arrived for a Three Person Full Olympic Standard Version of The Circle Game, using the new work-in-progress Game Board.
Confirmed
~~~

It’s True, Monday, August 25th We, here at The New Great Hall by the Sea, will be hosting The Circle Game Event of Late Summer 2014.

Early 21st Century student of The Circle Game, Brett, will be in the parish on Monday. I think the last time we played was still with CDs. He and I met at Blaine! back in 2002. He also distinguished himself by helping with the move from Allston to Winthrop with his arm in a sling.

Should be a Game worth attending and studying.

Here’s from 2010, the last known photo of Brett and I:

Late Summer

~~~
Today marks the End of High Summer and the Start of Late Summer.
For you Catholics in the lot, ’tis also an Holy Day of Obligation, The Assumption of Mary.
A good day for an Ablution.
Speaking of Ablutions ….
Yesterday Brother Jerome and I had a most sublime and glorious extended stay in the sea.  It followed 5 rounds of The Circle Game.  The first 4 being Full Olympic Standard and the 5th being “a la carte”.  We tried out the new carved 2,3,4 person board of charts.  Many keen insights and discoveries along the way, like: using the die for The Count. Here is what was played:
Pretty nice, right?
Tracks 1-32 were Circles 1-4. 33 on was “a la carte”.  The last track was a danse round, followed by the extended and blessed Ablution.
Between Circles 3 and 4 a vegetarian luncheon course took place.
Post Ablution was met with Turkish Coffee and Chocolate from Wisconsin.
Labour Sunday
~~~

Due to the fact that the “Summer Wrap Party on July 4th” is always a smashing success, we, here at The New Great Hall by the Sea are hoping to have an Event in The Garden at Fire Plaza on the Sunday of Labour Day Weekend (The 31st of August). Doors at Noon.  Several of The WIfe’s flamenco friends will be in attendance, some hair people, so a pleasant cross section of humanity.

If the weather permits that is …

In other news, the highly anticipated 2,3,4 person carved Circle Game Board is now roughed out and functional.  Still early days in the project, but now it can be used:

A Return to Horror

~~~
As advertised, last Saturday evening at Zone Underground Duxbury (ZUD)saw some EGTs (extreme good times).  A collected revisitation of the five volumes of the Horror Vignettes as hosted by The Storyteller. It was perceived that these strange tales of horror, warning, and revelation do endure the test of time.  Carefully digitized, from VHS that is disappearing before our eye, Mr Y has gone above and beyond.  As a treat, he even had the VHS source tape on hand for viewing.  Tech Support (his public debut since taking on the greatest role of his life) also had some relevant materials with him.  He dared show some of the sketches that were made from the “Lizard” days.  A subject which rarely comes up these days, moreover, as time goes by, seems more difficult to put into words.  It wasn’t clear back then, now … well … perhaps someday a revisitation ….
One perception of mine was how quick they flew by.  I remember in the days of countless viewings that even one volume was a hefty mind-assault.  Good in that they were concise, bad in that: it’s over.  Suddenly we were en route home.   The saga of getting there and back was particularly brutal with a “courtesy bus” detouring us between Quincy Center and JFK.  But well worth the EGTs had at ZUD. Again, many thanks to G for the limo service between Braintree and ZUD.
Now, for a taste of the Horror Potential that still remains, here are ALL the pictures I received so far:
