and again …

~~~
I have seen Robert Fripp many times. 5 or 6 times with King Crimson. 5 or 6 times of just solo Frippertronics/soundscapes. And 5 or 6 times with the League of Crafty Guitarists.
But only once with The Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists.
This latter entry was also the latest, and I suspect The Greatest.
Brother Jerome and I had the exceedingly good fortune to sit in the center of the back row in a lovely cathedral like church in Harvard Square. We were then graced with about 65 guitar players, including RF. I lack the mind and vocabulary to describe what happened ….
Unplugged and all over the space of the church and in motion.
Constantly in motion.
After a very long “improvised” bit Fripp said: “That’s all well and good, but can we play any songs?” which then erupted into “Red”. This was followed by two or three works from the Crafty ouevre. Then back into the Sound of the orchestra ….
like the Circle they made around the audience
the sound of passing the chords
sonically spiritually sublime
RF soloing directly behind us, notes perhaps only for Brother Jerome and myself …
An honour and validation of some of my music choices over the years.
Thank you.
Brother Jerome also graced the audience of a public talk I was part of. WF and a friend of his named “Derek” also attended. Another spiritually sublime evening … marked by thunderstorms …
In other news … There has been an ongoing film-preview study with Visitor Blim, trying to sort out of a vast collection works worthy of the Now Today Film Appreciation Society. Rest asssured, the time has not been wasted. So far there have been two films (out of 5 or 6) that have been nominated for The Permanent Collection.
With the extra time we’ve been able to spin a few more Circles of The CIrcle Game, trying out the new “Blim House Standard”
Mingle Mingle Danse Mingle Mingle Danse, pretty nice right?
Here is a list of two past games … songs 1-10 are Visitor Blim and I, the rest is an impromptu game with WF.
The New Blim House Standard isn’t well represented here due to an early catering arrival …
On Friday May 24th Brother Jerome and I will have the privilege of seeing:
RF and Orchestra
another one
Just the kick off to a Season of Guaranteed Good Times.
On Wednesday May 29th I’ll be assisting in a public talk with the Secret Danse Society I’m a member of. If interested, make contact.
Looking further ahead, after the Summer Wrap Party on July 4th, We will be Hosting the “13” listening party on July 14th. Visitor Blim will be providing the mobile venue as will play the Circle Game in the automobile until we get to The Kings Highway, then it’s the OFFICIAL World Premiere of the New Black Sabbath Album “13”. Let’s see if it becomes an OFFICIAL part of Black Sabbath Monday.
13!
Sadly, I am not able to attend the Wire concert on the 12th due to a prior commitment.
I guess we can’t make it to ALL the Good Times.
Speaking of Black Sabbath and the Good Times, Visitor Blim will again be providing transport to see Black Sabbath in August …
… and then on September 5th he and I will be travelling to NY3 to meet up with Tech Support and see The Mission.
(Yes, The Mission to See The Mission IV: NY3).
a full concert glimpse into their early days: 1986
I best stop here.
It’s been difficult to catch ones breath between TMtsTMIII: Stonehenge, BSMXIII, the terror, OPETH, and the sickness (which now seems to be waning)
Hopefully in days ahead there will be more accounts of various GTs past, present, and future.
Looking ahead, some GTs to look forward to:
“The OFFICIAL Black Sabbath “13” listening party on The Old Kings Highway”
“July 4th”
“July 22nd”
… and the newly formed:
The Mission to see The Mission IV: NY3
here’s some pictures of TMtsTMIII: Stonehenge:
XIII
~~~

Dawn at The New Great Hall by the Sea on Black Sabbath Monday XIII:

IMG_1079

We had just reached the apex of the trip and were readying to return when the tragedy in Boston popped our BSM bubble.

IMG_1134

We did not let the terror win, no, the programme continued.

Tech Support provided the Team with Libretto’s this year, a winning stroke of augmentation! During the first part of the day we marveled at the seemingly spiritual insights being gleaned. During the ride home the lyrics seemed all to prophetic, contemporary, and … now.

The Wife and I had just returned from our “Mission to See The Mission III: Stonehenge”, and were not only rather knackered, a devil bug had stolen my voice and elected to reside in my chest. The Wife was not without a visit from said bug as well …

But the momentum was un-stoppable: BSMXIII was going to happen, and did it ever.

A crack team of BSM veterans, and for the first time all assembled.

Assignments were given, and executed with masterful precision.

Did I mention how great it was to have the Librettos?

So, just a mere 363 days til BSMXIV!

Good Friday 2013

~~~
So, here it is Good Friday 2013. Remember to be Silent between Noon and 3pm.
~~~

On Holy Thursday we managed a 3-person, 2 (or it is 6?) Station Circle Game.

The participants were, in this order:

Winthrop Frank
Visitor Blim
The Host

We felt the spirit of Brother Jerome as well, but, alas, he was unable to attend corporeally.

We played two New Olympic Standard Circles, and there were 3 songs to start an “on call mingling/catering” round.

Prince Zaatars Persian Eggplant and Peas over brown rice with bread, followed by chocolate chip cookies and Turkish Coffee. All prepared on the premises.

Here’s the setlist:

pretty nice, right?

Have a Good Friday and a rejuvenating Easter.

Celebration Day

~~~
Not only did we cross the Vernal Equinox today at 0703hrs, tis also the anniversary of the current Incarnation of Brother Jerome.
Although not the most frequent attender of the larger NT Events, Brother Jerome has been critical in the development of:
1. The Urban Walk Society
2. The Circle Game
3. Black Sabbath Monday
He also has a vital role in 1998’s “Extensions XIII: The Carpet III: Taipai 2005”
And, if he outlives me, has the duty to deliver my Eulogy.
Moreover he remains a witness to The Good Times Now Today.
May We All Strive To Be Such The Witness and Celebrant!
And, since I’m not one to go on and on, I’ll leave off with a blessing from a Persian man I met at the Algiers many years ago:
“May Your Shadow not Grow Less”
This for all the comrades on The Path.
Let us conclude with this photographic proof of actual “Good Times”:
